On the way back to Prague, I was travelling by train (true story). I had little time to make the connection in České Budějovice.   I was sitting in my seat, repeating the sentence which I would ask the conductor. "Excuse me, Sir, could you tell which platform the train to Prague leaves from?"

"Prominte, pane, mohl byste mi rict z jakeho nastupiste odjizdi vlak do Prahy?"

I kept repeating this phrase over and over again. Actually, by the time, my train arrived in CB, I was sweating.  As our train stopped, I jumped off and ran to the first conductor. A huge man with a droopy mustache. I said to him in a panicky voice, "Vlak do Prahy?" (The train to Prague?)

He stared at me and then pointed at a nearby train "Tam" (There.)

I set a station record for making a connection in under 5 minutes.

The train left 30 minutes later. Sigh.
