In this final week, with every passing day, your mother and I are becoming more and more excited to meet you. There is a whole world that I want you to experience.

At first, you will be very small (though the doctors tell me differently) and maybe you will only want to sleep or burp or cry or be held. The most interesting things will be the teddy bears around your crib.

Though, someday soon, you will want to see more. As I write these words, I feel that your journey should begin with picture books before bed time. I am excited to show you a world where dogs can drive cars and bears go on picnics. You and I will talk to ghosts and meet others like Frog and Toad or a bear called Winnie the Pooh. Also, you will learn to read in Czech as well and meet even more exciting characters like the Vodnik.

My dream is that someday you will pick out a book for us to read together. As we turn the pages, we will discover something truly wonderful.

I hope you will love books, as much as I do because a world without books is a world without imagination or dreams. I would be sad for you to live in such a dull place.

Your future father,
