Summer is a time for beach trips, barbecues, and hot lazy afternoons in the sun. But, it is also a time for movies. Sci-fi, comic book, rom-com, war, chick flick, fantasy, drama, thriller and the best and most controversial genre-- the children’s film (adapted from a book). For every great film (How to Train your Dragon), there is a Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief.

A good film will find you when you are least expecting it.

Once I visited my older brother and his wife while they were living in Belgium. It was a special time in their lives as their first daughter Anna had been born. She was obsessed with Charlotte’s Web. In a 48 hour period, we watched it five times back-to-back. What bothered me was not the film, or the number of viewings. But, it was the fact that each time we watched it. I cried at the ending (which is very sad in my opinion). I was surprised because I thought, ok, the first two times, maybe, but not all FIVE.

When I returned to Prague, I told this story to a student and it became a joke between her and her girlfriends. When one of them started to sniff during a film, “Please don’t be such a Tim.”

Does anyone else have a film that turns them into a big soppy mess every time?

Or is it just me?
